Franklin Scholars is a peer mentoring programme, which involves Y10 students - the Franklin Scholars - to become better learners while they tutor, mentor, and support younger pupils. The Franklin Scholars are matched with year 7 students and lead weekly sessions that combine group activities, 1:1 academic support (literacy and numeracy focus areas available) and 1:1 mentoring. Following an application and interview process the Franklin Scholars undertook their initial training and induction. The feedback from the trainer was very positive!
“I wanted to update you on the great things the Hull Trinity House Academy Franklin Scholars got up to during their Initial Training and Induction Days. I’m pleased to say, all of the Year 10s were quite simply brilliant and focused throughout, and Ben was particularly impressed by Alex, Dylan and Rian for their leadership and sensitivity when interacting with the Years 7s. The Induction Day then followed in school which was when the Year 10s and 7s met for the first time. It was great to hear about the Year 10 Franklin Scholars supporting the Y7 cohort for the first time, and the Y7s responding brilliantly.”
